Culinary events highlight NaplesNEXT Ideas Festival next week, March 17-19, at the Naples Grande Beach Resort.

Directed by the James Beard Foundation, three culinary events fuse national talent with regional celebrity chefs. Gregory Gourdet, "Top Chef" runner-up and two-time finalist for the James Beard Awards' "Best Chefs in America," hand-selected the culinary pros together with the James Beard Foundation.

Participants include  Kris Moon, chief operating officer of the James Beard Foundation; Jon McDaniel, Food & Wine magazine's 2018 "Sommelier of the Year;"  Tiffanie Barriere, a master mixologist whose in-demand business "The Drinking Coach" educates bar and restaurant workers on all things alcohol;  Fabrizio and Ingrid Aielli, the owners of Barbatella, Dorona and Sea Salt restaurants in Naples; Vincenzo Betulia, chef-owner of Osteria Tulia and The French in downtown Naples; Asif Syed, chef-owner of 21 Spices in East Naples; Chef Brian Roland of Southwest Florida's Crave Culinaire; and Soraya Kilgore, pastry chef and co-owner of Miami's new MadLab Creamery, Alter and Brava.

Events include an opening night reception at the Naples Jet Center on Sunday, March 17; and an interactive forum "Improving Food Sustainability" with the participating chefs on Monday, March 18, followed by a lavish dinner with the chefs' signature stations at 6 p.m. Each event is built around the sustainability theme.

Tuscan taste

Divieto Ristorante at Coconut Point mall in Estero has a few seats left to sample six dishes inspired by the Tuscan region of Italy paired with Marchesi Antinori wines. During the food and wine tasting event at noon on Tuesday, March 19, Sommelier Erik Saccomani will provide detailed information about the wines.

The menu features Polpo Alla Divieto, Stracciatella Bruschetta, Gnocchi Ragu, Salmone Alla Griglia, Achello Con Fichi and Torta Della Nonna. The 30-seat afternoon event is $45 per person, which includes tax and gratuity.

Hello Spring menu

Seasons 52 rolls out its Hello Spring menu next week, so you still have time to enjoy the winter menu until it's out of season.

The national restaurant chain is making the most of spring with a special three-course menu featuring colorful and fresh ingredients of the season from March 19 to May 26. Choose an appetizer, entrée and Mini Indulgence dessert for $29.95.

Also, the corporate chef has created some new dishes you'll only find on the spring menu.  Entrees include Wood-Grilled Bistro Steak, Chicken Ravioli with Pesto Ricotta, Wood-Grilled Sea Scallops, Wood-Grilled Filet Mignon and Brick Oven-Roasted Cornish Hen.
